He woke to the shining sun and said: this day has to be what I imagined it to be. He walked through the lobby and reached the kitchen. he felt the sunlight on his face through the open window and smiled at himself. He felt the light passing through his soul. He felt light and floating as if he was free from the worldly chores. He was prepared for the day ahead. Without taking much time, he called his mother to know if they were also prepared for it. They were filled with joy and were ready for that important day. Prashant dressed up and packed his office bag. As he moved out of his house he met aunt Pauly, his neighbour. He enquired about her sick daughter Annie. Pauly said “Annie won’t be able to take these blows of disease. we might lose her.” Prashant liked Annie and they had been friends for long. He thought he would meet her in the evening. He stepped down to the parking and drove out. The sun was still shining and he was still happy for the award he was supposed to get at the office but he was worried for Annie. She had promised him that she would join him in the award ceremony but he knew that she won’t be able to make it. He reached the office in no time as he was thinking about Annie all his way. As he entered the main gate, he found the whole staff and his parents there to congratulate him for his success. He was told that with the award, he would even be promoted. He was not getting his smile back. He felt heavy. He wanted to go back and sit with Annie. He wanted to tell her that he always knew that Annie loved him and he would have spent his entire life with her. But he was surrounded and he couldn’t have made his way out.
In a while, he got a call from Aunt Paulie that Annie wants to join him at the ceremony. Prashant wanted that too and in no time he asked someone in the office to arrange a cab for her. Prashant got to his cabin feeling a little happy for Annie. He heard Rahul say that there is someone to see Prashant. It was Annie. Prashant was in the seventh sky as if he was all alone till then and there was no one he knew but Annie. Annie was dressed well and Prashant felt as if she is better than he last saw her. Her eyes were sparkling and she looked like a fresh rose. Prashant asked her if she was fine. Annie didn’t look ill at all or she has ever been through any illness. They talked and talked until there was a call for the ceremony to be started. Prashant asked Annie if they could stay together forever. Annie had tears in her eyes. She bowed to look down. She had always loved Prashant. She always wanted this to happen and this was the special day. She raised her head and looked Prashant in his eyes. Prashant was waiting and he knew she would never deny. But something strange happened. Annie said it’s too late and she might not survive this disease. She said if they meet somewhere in the other world or in the next life, they will be together. Prashant didn’t know what to say. He soothed her and asked her to move to the auditorium for the award ceremony. Prashant was given the award and the offer letter for his promotion. Annie couldn’t hide her emotions and had tears in her eyes. She held her face in her palms and cried. Prashant could see her. Annie stood up and waved at Prashant. She started moving out of the auditorium. Prashant wanted her to stay but he was in the mid of the ceremony and couldn’t have called her.
In a while, Annie was out and no one could see her. As the ceremony got over, he rushed out to look for her. He saw Rahul. He asked Rahul if he saw Annie, and Rahul said he didn’t see her. In fact he said he had never seen her. When he had come to tell Prashant that there was Annie to see him, he was told by someone else and not that he met Annie. Prashant ran out to look for her but didn’t find her. He called Aunt Paulie and asked if Annie came back home. Aunt Paulie said she never left home. She wanted to come but by the time the taxi arrived, Annie got critical and got into a coma. Doctors say she is alive but she is in a deep sleep.
Who was Prashant with? How could she come to the office if she is in a coma? Prashant is still clueless and Annie is still in a coma. Prashant spends some time with her every day. He reads her stories and brings her flowers. He has decided to be with her forever.This is love!
